임 위원장의 이 같은 발언은 최근 국민의힘 내부에서 감지되는 온도차와도 맞물린다. 윤재옥 의원 등은 통합 추진에 힘을 싣고 있지만, 임이자·이인선 의원 등은 권한 이양과 재원 구조가 명확히 보장되지 않는 상황에서 서두르는 데 경계심을 드러내고 있다. 대구·경북 지역에서도 ‘통합 자체보다는 실제로 어떤 권한이 내려오느냐가 더 중요하다’는 여론에 힘이 실리는 분위기다.
