지난 11일 국회 의원회관에서 정영진 산업통상자원부 1차관을 만난 임이자 의원은 상주 청리일반산업단지(기존)와 이차전지 클러스터 산업단지(신규)를 연계하여 326만㎡ 규모의 국가첨단전력산업 특화단지 내 이차전지 실리콘 음극재 및 소재산업을 육성하는 내용의 건의서를 전달했다.

상주시는 ‘21년부터 경상북도-상주시-SK머티리얼즈 간 투자양해각서 체결을 시작으로 ‘22년 산업단지 조성 용역 수립, ‘23년 2월 이차전지 선도기업 · 교육기관간 인재양성 업무협약 체결, SK 에코플랜트와 산업단지 조성 업무협약을 체결하고, 현재 산업부에 국가첨단전략산업 특화단지 지정 공모를 위한 신청서를 제출한 상태다.

향후 특화단지가 조성되면 이차전지 소재 신산업 투자로 상주시에 양질의 일자리가 창출되고, SK머티리얼즈 등 다수의 입주기업을 위한 주거단지 및 의료원, 문화 공간 등이 조성될 것으로 전망된다.

임이자 의원은 “상주시는 경북대상주캠퍼스 및 상주공고 등 이차전지 연구·생산 기능인력 확보에 용이하며 청리일반산업단지와 시너지 효과를 창출할 수 있다는 강점이 있다”면서 “상주시 미래 신성장 동력이 될 이차전지 클러스터 조성에 끝까지 최선을 다 할 것이다”고 밝혔다.
