이번 평가는 전국 243개 지방정부(광역 17개, 기초 226개)를 4개 평가군으로 구분해 혁신역량, 혁신성과, 자율지표 등 종합적인 혁신 노력을 측정했다. 영천시는 10개 평가지표 중 대부분에서 우수 등급을 받으며, 전년도 ‘보통’에서 ‘우수’로 한 단계 상승했다.

시는 혁신활동 참여와 성과 확산 노력, 조직문화 개선, 행정 내부 효율화, 대표 혁신과제 추진 등 전반에서 고른 향상을 보였다. 주요 사례로는 △경북 최초 전수 녹취 및 장시간 민원 응대 통화종료 시스템 구축 △하이테크파크지구 투자유치 △제2한민고 유치 △지역특화 임대형 스마트팜 사업 △스마트도시통합센터 운영 등이 제시됐다.

시 관계자는 “앞서 2025년 종합청렴도 평가 성과에 이어 지방정부 혁신평가에서도 도내 최고 등급을 달성한 것은 현장에서 노력한 공직자와 시민이 함께 만들어낸 결과”라며 “앞으로도 시민의 일상에 체감 변화를 가져오는 실질적 혁신을 지속해 영천의 도시 경쟁력을 더욱 강화하겠다”고 밝혔다.
