공모 기간은 25일부터 다음 달 3일까지 9일간이며, 영천시에 주민등록상 주소를 둔 시민이면 누구나 참여할 수 있다. 참여자는 2026년 영천시의 비전과 바람을 담은 사자성어를 작성해 이메일로 제출하면 된다. 자세한 사항은 영천시 홈페이지 ‘고시/공고’ 게시판에서 확인할 수 있다.
접수된 사자성어는 시정조정위원회의 심의·의결을 거쳐 최우수 1건을 포함한 총 3건을 선정한다. 선정된 시민에게는 소정의 시상금이 지급될 예정이다.
최기문 영천시장은 “신년화두에 시민의 바람과 희망을 담아 시민과 함께 시정 방향을 고민하는 계기가 되길 바란다”며 “신년화두를 방향키 삼아 시민 중심의 공감 행정을 실현하겠다”고 말했다.
영천시는 매년 시민 공모를 통해 신년화두를 선정하며 소통과 참여 중심의 행정을 이어오고 있다. 그동안 ▲2022년 ‘호시마주(虎視馬走)’ ▲2023년 ‘적토성산(積土成山)’ ▲2024년 ‘비룡승운(飛龍乘雲)’ ▲2025년 ‘창도약진(創道躍進)’ 등을 신년화두로 채택한 바 있다.
