【브레이크뉴스 영천】이성현 기자=영천시는 25일 대한민국 마늘 산업의 새로운 도약을 알리는 ‘제1회 한국 마늘 산업 박람회’가 영천체육관 일원에서 성황리에 개막했다고 밝혔다.

이번 박람회는 (사)한국마늘연합회와 마늘의무자조금관리위원회가 주최하고, (사)전국마늘생산자협회와 영천시가 공동 주관한다. 농림축산식품부와 경상북도, 농협경제지주가 후원에 나섰다. 

전국 단위로 처음 열리는 이번 행사는 마늘 생산자와 전문가 등 농업 관계자들이 한자리에 모여 산업의 현주소와 미래를 모색하고 혁신 기술을 공유하는 자리로 마련됐다.

행사는 ▲비전관(영천체육관) ▲미래관(생활체육관) ▲야외 전시장으로 구성된다. 비전관에서는 전문가 상담과 함께 ‘마늘 산업 심포지엄’이 열리며, 재배 기술, 병해충 관리, 기계화, 이상기상 대응 등 실질적인 재배 노하우가 공유된다. 미래관에는 전국 20개 시·군 100여 농가가 출품한 마늘이 전시되며, 품종별 심사를 통해 우수 농가에 농림축산식품부장관상 등이 수여된다. 마늘 공예품과 가공제품, 지자체 홍보관도 관람객들을 맞는다.

야외 전시장에는 국내 24개 농기자재 업체가 참여해 파종기와 수확기를 비롯한 최신 농기계와 자재를 선보인다. 또한 영천시 별빛촌 목요장터가 함께해 지역 농특산물을 판매하고, 푸드트럭이 운영돼 풍성한 먹거리를 제공한다.

26일에는 ▲전국 마늘 생산자 대회 ▲비전 선포식 ▲전국 마늘 생산자 한마음 노래자랑 ▲마늘 무료 나눔 이벤트 ▲품종 맞추기 이벤트 ▲가공제품 경매 ▲마늘 정책 홍보 캠페인 등 다채로운 부대행사도 마련된다. 한마음 노래자랑에는 트로트 가수 김다나가 초청돼 분위기를 돋울 예정이다.

최기문 영천시장은 “국내 최초로 열린 한국 마늘 산업 박람회가 마늘 농가와 산업 관계자들에게 성장의 발판이 되고, 소비자들에게 마늘의 가치를 널리 알리는 계기가 될 것”이라며 “이번 행사를 통해 영천이 대한민국 마늘 산업의 중심지로 자리매김할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

 Korea's First "Korea Garlic Industry Expo" Opens in Yeongcheon

Sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, and Nonghyup Economic Holdings, it is the first nationwide event of its kind, bringing together garlic producers, experts, and other agricultural professionals to explore the current state and future of the industry and share innovative technologies.

The event will be held across three venues: the Vision Hall (Yeongcheon Gymnasium), the Future Hall (a community gymnasium), and an outdoor exhibition hall. The Vision Hall will feature expert consultations and a "Garlic Industry Symposium," where practical farming expertise will be shared on topics such as cultivation techniques, pest control, mechanization, and response to unusual weather. The Future Hall will showcase garlic from over 100 farms across 20 cities and counties nationwide. Based on a variety-based evaluation, outstanding farms will receive awards, including the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Award. Visitors will also find garlic crafts, processed products, and a local government promotional booth.

The outdoor exhibition hall will feature 24 domestic agricultural equipment companies showcasing the latest agricultural machinery and supplies, including seeders and harvesters. The Yeongcheon Byeolbitchon Thursday Market will also feature local agricultural specialties, and food trucks will provide a bountiful selection of food.

On the 26th, various side events will be held, including the National Garlic Producers' Competition, a Vision Declaration Ceremony, a National Garlic Producers' One Heart Singing Contest, a free garlic sharing event, a variety matching event, a processed product auction, and a garlic policy promotion campaign. Trot singer Kim Da-na will be invited to the One Heart Singing Contest to liven up the event.

Yeongcheon Mayor Choi Ki-moon said, “The Korea Garlic Industry Expo, the first of its kind in Korea, will serve as a springboard for growth for garlic farmers and industry professionals, and will also serve as an opportunity to widely publicize the value of garlic to consumers.” He added, “We will do our best to ensure that Yeongcheon establishes itself as the center of the Korean garlic industry through this event.”
