영천시 관계자는 “지방자치단체가 보유한 특허가 민간 기업을 통해 상용화되는 사례는 매우 드물다”며 “영천시 공직자들이 현장에서 직접 만든 기술이 민간을 통해 전국으로 보급될 수 있다는 점에서 의미가 크다”고 밝혔다.

이어 “공공기관은 시민 안전을 위한 기술을 개발하고, 민간은 이를 상용화해 일자리와 경제적 가치를 창출하는 구조가 만들어질 것”이라며 “이번 협약이 행정과 민간의 상생 모델이자 겨울철 안전 강화를 위한 혁신 사례로 자리매김하길 바란다”고 말했다.
