영천시는 오는 23일부터 한 달간 농업기술센터 내에 과수꽃가루은행을 운영해 과일 결실 안정과 농가 소득 증대에 나선다고 밝혔다.
최근 이상저온 등 기후 변화로 개화기 냉해 피해 위험이 커지고 있는 데다, 수분을 돕는 꿀벌 등 화분매개충 개체수 감소로 자연 수분만으로는 안정적인 결실을 기대하기 어려운 상황이다.
이에 시는 전문 채취 장비와 기술 인력을 갖추고, 농가가 채취해 온 꽃봉오리에서 인공수분용 꽃가루를 직접 확보할 수 있도록 지원할 계획이다.
인공수분은 암술에 꽃가루를 인위적으로 묻혀 결실률을 높이고, 모양이 균일한 정형과 생산을 확대하는 데 중요한 역할을 한다.
영천시는 농가 부담 완화를 위해 인공수분기를 무상 임대하고, 이를 통해 적기 작업과 노동력 절감이라는 효과를 동시에 기대하고 있다.
또한 채취된 꽃가루는 초저온 냉동고에 보관해 필요 시 공급하며, 발아율 검사를 통해 농가별 맞춤형 인공수분 기술 지도도 병행할 방침이다.
최재열 영천시 농업기술센터 소장은 “개화기를 앞두고 저온 피해 예방 시설을 사전에 점검하고, 인공수분용 꽃가루를 미리 확보해 적기에 작업을 실시하는 것이 중요하다”고 당부했다.
