영천시는 오는 4월 1일부터 5월 15일까지 ‘2026년 제5회 공공데이터·AI 활용 창업 경진대회’ 참가 신청을 접수한다고 밝혔다. 이번 대회는 영천시와 경북자동차임베디드연구원이 공동으로 추진하는 사업으로, 공공데이터와 AI 기술을 기반으로 한 비즈니스 모델 발굴과 데이터 경제 활성화를 목표로 한다.

특히 올해 대회는 단순 아이디어 경쟁을 넘어 실제 서비스 구현 가능성과 정책 반영까지 고려한 실효성 중심의 경진대회로 운영된다. 참가 부문은 △아이디어 기획 △데이터 시각화 등 2개 분야로, 개인 또는 4명 이내 팀 단위로 국민 누구나 참여할 수 있다.

아이디어 기획 분야는 공공데이터를 활용한 신규 서비스, 정책 제안 등 창의적 발굴에 초점을 맞추며, 데이터 시각화 분야는 데이터의 가치를 효과적으로 전달하는 표현 역량을 평가한다. 특히 올해는 아이디어 기획 부문에 AI 기술 적용을 의무화해 기술 기반 서비스로의 발전 가능성을 중점적으로 심사할 예정이다.

수상자에게는 영천시장상과 함께 총 900만 원 규모의 상금이 수여된다. 또한 아이디어 기획 분야 최우수팀에는 제14회 범정부 공공데이터·AI 활용 창업 경진대회 본선 진출 기회가 주어질 예정이다.

영천시는 수상작을 정책사업에 적극 반영해 데이터 기반 행정 고도화에 활용한다는 방침이다. 나아가 우수 아이디어를 기반으로 AI 서비스 개발을 추진해 시민 편의 증진으로 이어질 수 있도록 지원할 계획이다.

참가 신청은 경진대회 공식 홈페이지를 통해 온라인으로 가능하며, 세부 일정과 심사 기준 역시 홈페이지에서 확인할 수 있다.

시 관계자는 “AI와 결합된 공공데이터는 새로운 행정 혁신의 핵심 자원”이라며 “이번 대회를 통해 사회문제 해결을 위한 실질적이고 혁신적인 아이디어가 다수 발굴되길 기대한다”고 밝혔다.

Yeongcheon City to Host Public Data & AI Startup Competition… “Discovering Data-Based Innovative Ideas”

Yeongcheon City is setting out to discover creative ideas that fuse public data with artificial intelligence (AI).

Yeongcheon City announced that it will accept applications for the “2026 5th Public Data & AI Utilization Startup Competition” from April 1 to May 15. This competition is a joint initiative between Yeongcheon City and the Gyeongbuk Automotive Embedded Research Institute, aiming to discover business models based on public data and AI technology and to revitalize the data economy.

In particular, this year’s competition will go beyond a simple idea contest to operate as an effectiveness-oriented event that considers the feasibility of actual service implementation and policy reflection. Participation is open to all citizens, either individually or in teams of up to four members, across two categories: Idea Planning and Data Visualization.

The Idea Planning category focuses on the discovery of creative ideas, such as new services and policy proposals utilizing public data, while the Data Visualization category evaluates the ability to effectively convey the value of data through presentation. In particular, this year, the application of AI technology has been made mandatory in the idea planning category, and the evaluation will focus on the potential for development into technology-based services.

Winners will receive the Yeongcheon Mayor's Award along with a total of 9 million won in prize money. Additionally, the top team in the idea planning category will be given the opportunity to advance to the finals of the 14th Pan-Government Public Data & AI Utilization Startup Competition.

Yeongcheon City plans to actively incorporate the winning entries into policy projects to advance data-driven administration. Furthermore, the city intends to support the development of AI services based on these excellent ideas to enhance citizen convenience.

A city official stated, "Public data combined with AI is a core resource for new administrative innovation," adding, "We look forward to discovering numerous practical and innovative ideas for solving social problems through this competition."
