장 대표는 계엄 발동과 관련한 정치적 책임을 묻는 질문에 대해 “추가 입장 발표나 사과 논의는 없다”고 밝혔다. 당 지도부 대부분도 같은 기조를 유지하고 있으며, 계엄 사태에 대한 공적 책임을 인정하는 움직임은 확인되지 않았다.

지도부의 이같은 기조에 일부 국민의힘 의원들이 계엄 사태 과정에서의 부당성 또는 대응 미흡을 인정하며 개별적으로 사과 입장을 내기도 했다.

지역 정치권에서는 “일부 의원들이 사과를 한 상황에서 지도부만 침묵하는 것은 민심과 동떨어진 행보”라는 지적도 있다. 

한 시민은 “추경호 의원의 영장 기각은 어느 정도 예상됐던 일이다. 그러나 국민의힘이 계엄으로부터 자유롭다고 생각해서는 안된다. 윤석열과 무한한 공동 책임을 지고 가야 한다. 내란은 물론, 외란까지 의심받고 있는 윤석열의 미래에 비춰 국민의힘 또한 그에 걸 맞는 국민적 징계가 필요하다. 당 해체는 그 방법 중 하나가 될 것”이라고 경고했다.  

계엄 사태와 관련한 정치적 책임 논쟁이 이어질 전망인 가운데 지역 정가에서도 ’국민의힘은 해산밖에 답이 없다‘는 목소리도 점점 확산되고 있다.

They added, "The People Power Party's refusal to apologize for Yoon Seok-yeol's actions is something no Korean citizen can and should forgive."

Another official stated, "The rejection of Rep. Choo Kyung-ho's arrest warrant was somewhat expected. However, the People Power Party should not think it is immune from martial law. It must shoulder infinite shared responsibility with Yoon Seok-yeol.
