장 의원은 6일 오후 1시 30분 국민의힘 대구시당에서 열린 기자간담회에서 "정청래 대표의 취임 일성이 '내란세력 척결'이라는 점은 정치적 중립성을 심각하게 해친다"며 "민주당이 계엄과 관련된 헌법재판소 결정을 왜곡해 국민의힘 전체를 내란 세력으로 몰아가고 있다"고 주장했다.

그는 "헌재도 당시 계엄은 수단의 적절성과 균형성이 부족했다고 했을 뿐, 그것이 곧 내란이라는 판단은 하지 않았다"며 "민주당 스스로도 내란죄 부분에 대해서는 소추를 철회했는데, 이제 와서 정당 해산 운운하는 것은 정치적 목적에 불과하다"고 밝혔다.

정당 해산론에 대해서는 "정당 해산은 극히 엄격한 요건이 필요한 사안이며, 통진당 사례처럼 특정 당원의 행위가 정당 전체의 책임으로 전가되려면 명백한 조직적 관련성이 입증돼야 한다"고 설명했다.

이어 "그런 법적 요건조차 무시하고 내년 지방선거와 총선을 '내란 정국'으로 끌고 가려는 전략은 국민적 저항에 부딪힐 것"이라고 경고했다.

그는 "늘 내부 갈등을 일으키고 당과 다른 방향으로 가는 이들까지 막연히 '통합'하자는 건 전투력을 떨어뜨리는 일"이라며 "나는 한 방향을 보고 함께 싸우는 '단일 대오'라는 표현을 선호한다"고 덧붙였다.

전한길 씨를 둘러싼 논란에 대해서 입장을 밝히기도 했다. 장 의원은 "전한길 씨는 탄핵 국면에서 열심히 싸웠던 분"이라며 "공식 입장으로 채택하기 어려운 부분이 있다면 그 이슈에 대해서만 거리를 두면서, 함께할 수 있는 부분에서는 협력하면 된다"고 밝혔다.

장 의원은 "우리와 함께 싸운 분들을 어떤 이슈 하나 때문에 몰아내는 방식으로는 우리 세력을 키워나갈 수 없다"며 더욱 포용적인 접근의 필요성을 강조했다.

같은 날 오전  김건희 여사가 피의자 신분으로 특검에 출석한 것에 대해서는 "전직 대통령의 배우자를 공개적으로 소환한 것은 대한민국 역사상 처음"이라며 법적 기준의 공정한 적용을 강조했다.

장 의원은 "지금 대한민국에서 사법적으로 가장 특혜를 받고 있는 한 사람은 5개 재판이 모두 중지된 이재명 대통령"이라며 "법은 좌로나 우로나 치우침이 없어야 되고 위로나 아래로나 치우침이 없어야 된다"고 강조했다.

이어 "법이라는 강은 누구에게나 똑같이 흘러야 된다"며 "민주당이 그렇게 비판했던 살아있는 권력에 대해서는 한없이 비겁하고 죽은 권력에 대해서는 한없이 잔인한 그런 법이 아니기를 바란다"고 말했다.
