【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=국민의힘 우재준(대구 달서갑) 국회의원이 오는 8월 22일 전당대회 청년최고위원 출마를 공식화하며 TK(대구·경북) 지역 민심 결집을 통한 당 쇄신을 강조했다.

우 의원은 5일 오후 대구경북 인터넷기자들과 만난 자리에서 "대구경북에서 유일하게 나온 후보"라며 "특히나 지난 대선 과정부터 계엄·탄핵·대선에 이르는 과정까지 TK 내부에서 실망과 상처도 많다고 생각한다"고 말했다.

또한 우 의원은 자신의 차별화된 위치를 부각시키며 "제가 계엄을 해제했던 18명의 의원 중 한 명이면서도 또한 탄핵에는 반대표를 행사한 사람이라는 교집합 안에 들어가는 사람"이라고 설명했다.

이어 "윤석열 대통령이 잘했다는 게 아니라 탄핵이 불러올 수 있는 혼란이나 우리가 정권을 뺏겼을 때 나라가 위기에 처할 수 있다는 부분에 대해서 사람들이 많이 우려했다는 부분에 대한 공감도 할 수 있는 사람"이라며 "외부로는 여당의 공격으로부터 방어도 하고 내부로는 당원들과 공감도 하고 함께 옳은 길로 나아가자고 설득도 할 수 있는 사람"이라고 자신의 역할을 정의했다.

TK 지역의 정치적 현실에 대해서는 "최근 여론조사를 보면 대구에서 국민의힘이 한 20몇 퍼센트, 민주당이 한 22-23% 이런 식으로 2-3% 차이밖에 안 된다"며 "특정 정당을 지지하지 않는다가 한 40% 정도 된다"고 분석했다.

그는 "이게 결국은 국민의힘을 지지했던 사람들이 지금 싫어서 지지를 안 하는 것으로 보인다"며 "우리가 실망을 많이 줬다고 생각하고, 해법을 빨리 잘 찾아야 한다"고 진단했다.

당 내 갈등과 관련해서는 "계엄을 진짜로 동의하는 사람은 잘라내야 한다"면서도 "그냥 윤석열 대통령에 대한 안타까운 마음을 표현하는 것과 진짜로 계엄을 동의하는 것은 다르다"며 구분해야 한다고 강조했다.

우 의원은 "지금은 우리 당을 다시 국민들로부터 사랑받게 하는 게 최우선 과제이고 생각보다 긴급한 과제"라며 "지지율 1%만 올려도 청년 지방의원 10명 정도가 살고, 지자체장 한두 명이라도 더 살려내면 그 사람들은 분명히 미래에 대해서 투자를 할 것"이라고 말했다.
