【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=국민의힘 정해용 대구 동구청장 예비후보(전 대구시 경제부시장)가 K-2 군 공항 이전부지(후적지)를 아파트 위주의 단순 택지화가 아닌, 공항과 연계한 첨단산업 클러스터로 개발하겠다는 구상을 밝혔다.

정 예비후보는 지난 14일 “K-2 부지를 단순히 주거지로 채우는 방식에서 벗어나야 한다”며 “첨단 제조와 글로벌 연구개발(R&D)이 결합된 산업 클러스터로 조성해 대구 경제의 혁신 거점으로 만들겠다”고 말했다. 

그는 특히 기존의 기부채납 중심 개발 방식이 한계를 드러내고 있다며, 앵커기업 유치와 기업 투자가 중심이 되는 개발 패러다임 전환이 필요하다고 강조했다.

정 예비후보는 K-2의 지리적 강점으로 TK 신공항, 동대구역 등과의 교통 접근성과 혁신도시, 첨단의료복합단지와의 연계를 꼽았다. 또 팔공산과 금호강 등 주변 자연환경을 기반으로 한 정주 여건까지 갖추면 산업과 생활이 어우러진 새로운 복합도시 조성이 충분히 가능하다고 설명했다.

구상하는 유치 산업 분야로는 미래 모빌리티, 첨단 제조(ABB), 의료·헬스케어 등을 제시했다. 기존 대구시의 전략 산업들과 연계해 시너지 효과를 극대화하겠다는 전략이다.

핵심 모델로는 ‘직주락 복합신도시’를 제안했다. 일자리, 주거, 여가가 함께 어우러진 도시에 청년과 전문 인력이 머물 수 있도록 광역 교통망과 연계한 대규모 투자 유치가 필수라는 설명이다. 특히 수도권 집중 완화 정책 기조와도 맞물려 실현 가능성 또한 충분하다고 자신감을 내비쳤다.

개발 과정에서 지역 주민에 대한 보상과 지역경제에 미치는 파급 효과 역시 강조했다. 

정 예비후보는 “그동안 국가 안보를 위해 희생한 주민들에게 필요한 것은 실질적인 경제적 도약”이라며 “정부·대구시와 협력해 동구 전체가 함께 성장할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

He proposed a "Work-House-Leisure Mixed-Use New City" as the core model. He explained that attracting large-scale investment linked to a wide-area transportation network is essential to ensure that young people and skilled professionals can stay in a city where jobs, housing, and leisure coexist harmoniously. He expressed confidence that this is fully feasible, particularly as it aligns with the policy stance of alleviating concentration in the Seoul metropolitan area.

He also emphasized compensation for local residents during the development process and the ripple effects on the local economy.

Preliminary Candidate Jeong stated, "What residents who have sacrificed for national security need is a substantial economic leap forward," adding, "I will do my utmost to cooperate with the government and Daegu City to ensure that the entire Dong-gu district grows together."
