주 부의장은 한 방송 인터뷰에서 “법원 결정을 깨끗이 받아들이고 다시 경선을 치르는 것이 후유증을 줄이고 승리로 가는 길”이라며 “가처분 결과는 오늘이나 내일쯤 나올 것”이라고 밝혔다. 이어 “불복해서 항고를 하는 것은 사실상 공천을 포기하자는 것과 다름없다”고 강조했다.

주 부의장은 자신의 가처분 신청이 앞서 인용된 김영환 충북지사의 사례와 논리 구조가 같다고 주장했다. 

실제로 서울남부지법은 지난달 31일 김 지사에 대한 공천 배제 효력정지 가처분을 받아들이며, 당헌·당규 위반과 공천 제도 본질이 훼손됐다고 판단한 바 있다.

공천 배제 사유로 거론된 ‘세대교체론’에도 주 부의장은 선을 그었다. 그는 “세대교체는 유권자가 결정하는 일”이라며 “잘못된 결정을 인정하는 것이 선당후사가 아니다”라고 말했다. 또 “공천 과정의 혼선 때문에 지지층이 이탈하는 현상이 나타나고 있다”며 선거 경쟁력 약화를 우려했다.

당 지도부와의 긴장 기류도 이어지고 있다. 주 부의장은 장동혁 대표와 만난 자리에서 “가처분 인용 시 판결 취지에 따르겠다”는 답변을 들었다고 전했지만, 당내에서는 여전히 불복 논의가 이어지고 있다.

지도부는 법원 판단을 둘러싸고 문제를 제기하고 있다. 장 대표는 최고위원회에서 “국민의힘 관련 가처분 사건이 특정 재판부에 반복적으로 배당되고 있다”며 사법 절차 공정성에 의문을 제기했다. 이어 “사건 배당이 편중됐다면 재판의 공정성 자체가 흔들릴 수 있다”고 주장했다.

국민의힘은 법원에 사건 배당 기준에 대한 공식 질의를 요청했고, 결과에 따라 이의신청이나 재판부 기피 신청 등 추가 대응도 검토하고 있다.

현재 주 부의장의 가처분 사건은 김영환 지사 건을 맡았던 재판부에서 심리 중인 것으로 나타났다. 법원 결정에 따라 재경선 실시 여부가 판가름날 것으로 보이며, 이번 판결이 대구시장 선거는 물론, 국민의힘 내 권력 구도에도 상당한 영향을 미칠 전망이다.

Internal conflict within the People Power Party over the nomination for the Daegu mayoral election is intensifying ahead of a court ruling.

National Assembly Vice Speaker Joo Ho-young pressured the party leadership, arguing that the party must accept the court's injunction and hold a re-election.

In fact, on the 31st of last month, the Seoul Southern District Court accepted an injunction suspending the effect of Governor Kim's exclusion from the nomination, ruling that the party's constitution and regulations had been violated and the essence of the nomination system had been undermined. Vice Chairman Joo also drew a line regarding the "generational change theory," which was cited as the reason for his exclusion from the nomination process. He stated, "Generational change is a matter for the voters to decide," adding, "Acknowledging a wrong decision is not putting the party before oneself." Representative Jang questioned the fairness of the judicial process at the Supreme Council meeting, stating, "Injunction cases related to the People Power Party are being repeatedly assigned to specific courts." He further argued, "If case assignments are biased, the fairness of the trial itself could be undermined."

The People Power Party has requested an official inquiry from the court regarding the criteria for case assignment and is considering additional responses, such as filing an objection or a motion to recuse the judges, depending on the outcome.
