지난 8일 국민의힘 대구시당은 2022년 제2차 국민의힘 대구시당 운영위원회를 개최하여 김용판 국회의원(달서구병, 초선)을 신임 대구시당위원장으로 선출했다.

회의는 대구지역 국회의원들과 자치단체장, 시당 주요당직자 등 약 40여 명이 참석한 가운데 개최되었으며 대구시당위원장 후보로는 김용판 국회의원(58년생, 달서구병, 초선)이 단독으로 입후보 한 것으로 알려진다.

이에 따라 국민의힘 대구시당은 운영위원회 회의를 통해 향후 대구시당을 이끌 국민의힘 대구시당위원장으로 김용판 의원을 선출했다. 

김용판 신임 위원장은 국민의힘 중앙당 최고위원회의 승인을 거쳐 향후 1년간 임기를 맡을 예정이다.

이 가운데 아직까지 위원장 선출을 마치지 못한 국민의힘 경북도당에 관심이 쏠리고 있다.

현재 가장 유력한 후보는 임이자 의원(상주문경)으로 지난해 경북도당 위원장을 두고 김정재 의원(포항북)과 경쟁을 벌이다 대승적 차원으로 양보에 나선 바 있어 일각에서는 임 의원의 합의 추대 가능성도 제기되고 있다.

그러나 김희국(군위의성청송영덕)·송언석(김천) 의원이 후보군으로 거론되면서 경북도당이 오는 13일 국회에서 개최할 예정이라고 밝힌 간담회에서 어떤 결정을 내릴 것인지 귀추가 주목된다.
