권영진 전 시장은 논란이 되고 있는 신청사 기금에 대하여 이날 자세히 설명했다. 각종 기금은 상황과 필요에 의해 당장 급한 곳에 임의 사용할수 도, 해산도 할 수 있고, 변경까지 할 수 있다는 점을 강조하면서 ”(신청사 기금) 유용이라는 이야기는 전혀 맞지 않는 말“이라고 발끈했다.

그러면서 “돈이 없어서나 부족해서라기보다는 시민들이 숙의 민주주의 방식으로 결정한 사항을 정수장 부지 절반을 매각해서 짓겠다는 홍 시장의 방침에 아무 생각 없이 (김용판 의원이) 동의하면서 신청사 건립이 꼬이기 시작한 것이다. 내가 국회의원을 하고 있다면 벌써 짓고 있을 것”이라고 말했다.

권 예비후보는 “자신의 무능을 이제와 전임 시장인 나에게 책임을 전가하는 식으로 물 타려는 것은 참으로 염치없는 짓”이라면서 “김용판 의원은 대구시민과 달서구민의 뜻을 철저하게 외면했다. 이제라도 구민과 시민들에게 사과부터 해야한다”고 핀잔했다.
