진보당 동구위원회는 "지난 2년간 구정 공백에 이어 당선무효형까지 받아 행정 공백을 넘어 구정이 방해받는 상황"이라며 윤 청장의 즉각 사퇴를 요구했다.

기자회견에 참석한 한 동구 주민은 "때 되면 나오는 지방세, 자동차세는 세금대로 내면서 세금으로 일해야 할 구청장이 구청에 나오지도 않으면서 세비를 축내고 있다"며 불만을 토로했다.

이 주민은 "주민이 구청장이 출근했는지 안 했는지 걱정해야 되는 이 상황을 어떻게 이해할 수 있나"며 "공무원이 2년 넘게 출근도 제대로 안 한다면 어떻게 공무원직을 유지할 수 있겠나"라고 질타했다.

그는 윤 청장에게 "만에 하나 이런 자진 사퇴 주민 분노를 어기고 끝끝내 임기를 채우겠다고 한다면 더 많은 동구 주민의 분노에 직면하게 될 것"이라며 "항소해서는 안 되고, 이쯤 되면 자기 발로 내려와서 동구 주민들에게 무릎 꿇고 사죄해야 한다"고 경고했다.

황순규 진보당 대구시당위원장은 "이런 상황을 바로잡을 제도가 없다"며 "많은 주민들이 알아야 한다는 생각으로 기자회견을 열었다"고 설명했다.

황 위원장은 "다른 곳 같으면 짤리거나 책임지고 물러나야 할 텐데 2년여간 직을 유지하는 윤 청장에 대해 지역민 분노가 심각하다"고 덧붙였다.

윤 청장의 잦은 결근으로 비판이 빗발치는 상황이지만 건강상의 이유, 정치자금법 위반 수사, 당내 갈등설 등 여러 추정만 무성할 뿐이다.

진보당 측은 "구청장이면서도 지난 2년 동안 정상적으로 출근을 하지 않고 있는 상황에 대해 본인 스스로 명쾌하게 해명한 적이 없어 단지 추정해 왔을 뿐"이라며 "가끔 분발하겠다는 입장 발표가 있었지만 동구 주민들은 진짜 윤 청장의 입에서 나온 말인지 AI의 자동응답인지 헷갈려한다"고 비판했다.

진보당 대구시당은 기자회견 이후에도 릴레이 1인 시위를 이어갈 예정이며, 윤석준 동구청장이 항소할 경우 주민 집회를 통해 사퇴를 압박할 계획이라고 밝혔다.

진보당 측은 "자신을 뽑아준 주권자들에 대한 심각한 우롱"이라며 윤 청장의 즉각 사퇴를 거듭 촉구했다.

The Progressive Party criticized the situation, stating, "Despite being the district mayor, he has not clearly explained why he has not been attending work for the past two years, so we have only speculated." They added, "While he has occasionally expressed his intention to work harder, residents of Dong-gu are confused as to whether these are genuine statements from Mayor Yoon or automated responses from an AI."

The Daegu City Chapter of the Progressive Party announced that it plans to continue its relay of one-person protests following the press conference and, if Dong-gu Mayor Yoon Seok-joon appeals, will hold a resident rally to pressure him to resign.
