【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구경제정의실천시민연합이 윤석준 대구 동구청장에게 항소심 판결을 받아들이고 구청장직에서 물러날 것을 촉구했다.

대구경실련은 9일 발표한 성명을 통해 “대구지방법원 항소심 재판부가 지난 5일 윤 구청장과 검찰의 항고를 모두 기각해 정치자금법 위반 혐의에 대한 벌금 200만 원, 당선무효형이 그대로 유지됐다”고 밝혔다. 윤 구청장이 상고하지 않을 경우, 구청장직은 상실된다.

윤 구청장은 판결 직후 “구민들께 죄송하다”는 입장을 내놨다. 그러나 상고 여부에 대해서는 “판결문을 보고 변호사와 상의하겠다”고 밝혔다.

대구경실련은 이번 판결과 별개로 윤 구청장의 장기적인 직무 공백이 더 큰 문제라고 지적했다.

윤 구청장은 지난해 11월 열린 기자간담회에서 건강 문제로 인해 직무 수행에 어려움을 겪고 있다며 “연말까지 호전되지 않으면 중요한 결정을 하겠다”고 밝힌 바 있다. 당시 발언은 사임 가능성을 시사한 것으로 해석됐다. 

그러나 이후 건강이 크게 호전되지 않은 상태에서 결근이 오히려 늘어나면서 구정 공백이 심화됐다는 것이 대구경실련의 설명이다.

대구경실련은 윤 구청장이 항소심 판결에 불복해 상고할 경우, 임기 대부분을 소송에 허비하면서 행정 공백과 예산 낭비가 불가피할 것이라고 경고했다. 

이들은 “이는 동구 주민들과 행정조직 모두에 도움이 되지 않으며, 윤 구청장 본인에게도 건강 악화와 비판 여론 확산만 초래할 것”이라고 우려했다.

아울러 “윤석준 동구청장은 항소심 판결에 승복하고 구청장직에서 사임해야 한다”는 입장을 거듭 강조했다.

The Daegu Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice (CCJ) has urged Dong-gu District Mayor Yoon Seok-joon to accept the appeal and resign from his position.

The Daegu Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice warned that if Mayor Yoon appeals the appellate court's ruling, he will spend most of his term in court, inevitably leading to an administrative vacuum and a wasteful budget.

They expressed concern that "this will not benefit either the residents of Dong-gu or the administrative organization, and will only result in Mayor Yoon's own deteriorating health and widespread public criticism."

They further reiterated their position that "Dong-gu Mayor Yoon Seok-jun must accept the appellate court's ruling and resign."
