19일 정오 더불어민주당 대구동구지역위원회는 대구 동구청 앞에서 기자회견을 개최하고 “윤석준 동구청장이 재판, 치료 등으로 인해 공무를 제대로 수행하지 못하면서도 구민들에게는 아무런 문제가 없는 것처럼 시늉 한다”며 사퇴를 촉구했다.

이들은 “구민들을 위해 누구보다 노력해야 할 구청장이 공무원 복무규정 위반과 근무태만으로 의심 받는 일은 불행한 현실”이라며 “사람들의 입에 오르내린지 수개월이 지나는 동안 구청장은 이 문제에 대해 마땅한 대책을 내놓지 않고 있다”고 꼬집었다.

그러면서 “이대로 가다간 구청 전체의 기강은 무너지고, 구 예산은 낭비되고 공동체는 기초부터 흔들릴 수밖에 없다”고 지적했다.

민주당 동구지역위는 윤석준 청장이 4.2 재보궐선거 실시 사유 확정일인 2월 28일까지 사퇴하지 않으면 주민소환제를 검토하겠다는 입장이다.

주민소환제는 주민이 지방자치단체장 및 지방의원 등을 임기 중 주민투표로 해직시킬 수 있는 제도로 올해 동구의 주민소환을 위한 서명 인원 기준은 약 4만 4천명이다.
