지난 1일 전국농민회총연맹 경북도연맹 의성군농민회가 세입자 몰래 전기를 끌어다 사용했다는 의혹이 일어 논란이 되고 있는 의성군의회 A의원의 사퇴를 촉구했다.

의성군농민회는 “수돗물 도둑에 이어 전기 도둑까지 불법, 탈법을 저지르고 있는 의성군의회 군의원은 더 이상 군의원 자격이 없다.”고 질타했다.

알려진 바에 따르면 지난해 A의원이 소유했던 업체가 폐소화전에서 334t의 물을 무단으로 사용한 사실이 적발되어, 절도 혐의로 경찰에 고발되었다.

이 가운데 지난달에는 A의원이 실소유주로 알려진 건설업체가 같은 건물에 세 들어 있는 업소의 전기를 훔쳐 쓴 정황이 드러나면서 논란은 더욱 가중되고 있다.

전기 절도 혐의와 관련하여 A의원은 “사실무근이며, K종합건설대표와는 전혀 모르는 사이다”면서 “전기를 5년간 훔쳐 쓴 내용은 전혀 아는 바가 없다”고 선을 그었다.

의성군의회는 “논란이 일자 해당 군의원이 전기 절도 피해를 당한 세입자의 업소에 2개월 치 임대료를 감면해주었는데 이는 자신의 절도 행위를 간접적으로 인정한 것”이라고 강조했다.

아울러 A의원이 지난 7월 의성지역에 코로나19 확산세가 지속될 때 지인 등 4명과 골프모임을 가진 뒤 코로나19에 확진되어 물의를 빚었던 사실을 언급하며 “해당 군의원의 자진사퇴 및 의성군의회 차원에서 징계가 이루어지지 않으면 향후 퇴진 운동을 전체 군민들의 힘을 모아 진행하겠다”고 경고했다.
