【브레이크뉴스 의성】진예솔 기자=더불어민주당은 7일 열린 제127차 최고위원회에서 임미애 국회의원(비례대표, 의성청송영덕울진지역위원장)을 경북도당위원장 직무대행으로 지명했다.
이는 이영수 경북도당위원장이 대통령실 비서관으로 공직에 임명되며 사퇴함에 따른 조치다. 이 위원장은 지난해 8월 경북도당위원장에 선출됐으며, 제21대 대통령 선거 당시 경북선대위 총괄선대위원장을 맡아 이재명 대통령 당선에 기여했다. 현재 대통령실 농림축산비서관에 내정돼 있다.
임미애 의원은 의성군의원과 경북도의원을 거쳐 지난 총선에서 비례대표로 국회에 입성했으며, 대구·경북에서 유일한 더불어민주당 국회의원으로 활발한 활동을 이어가고 있다. 앞서 이영수 위원장 직전 경북도당위원장을 지낸 바 있어 도당 운영 경험은 물론, 현역 의원으로서의 조직적 장점까지 갖췄다는 평가다.
당 안팎에서는 내년 6월 실시되는 지방선거를 앞두고 임 의원이 중심이 되어 경북 지역의 선거 경쟁력을 높일 것으로 기대하고 있다.

The Democratic Party of Korea nominated Rep. Im Mi-ae (proportional representation, Uiseong-Cheongsong-Yeongdeok-Uljin Regional Committee Chairperson) as the acting chairperson of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Party Committee at the 127th Supreme Council meeting held on the 7th.
This is a measure taken in response to the resignation of Rep. Lee Young-soo of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Party Committee, who was appointed to a public office as a secretary to the President. Rep. Lee was elected as the chairperson of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Party Committee in August of last year, and contributed to the election of President Lee Jae-myung by serving as the general election committee chairperson of the Gyeongbuk Election Committee during the 21st presidential election. She is currently appointed as the Secretary to the President for Agriculture, Forestry and Livestock.
Rep. Im Mi-ae entered the National Assembly as a proportional representative in the last general election after serving as a member of the Uiseong County Council and the Gyeongbuk Provincial Council, and continues to actively participate as the only member of the National Assembly of the Democratic Party of Korea from Daegu and Gyeongbuk. She is evaluated to have not only experience in running the provincial party, but also organizational advantages as an incumbent member, as she previously served as the chairperson of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Party Committee before Rep. Lee Young-soo.
Inside and outside the party, there are expectations that Rep. Lim will play a central role in increasing the electoral competitiveness of the Gyeongbuk region ahead of the local elections to be held in June next year.
