보건복지부의 자료에 따르면 올해 5월 1일 기준 전국 의과 공보의 1209명 중 12.8%인 155명이 의료공백을 메우기 위해 파견됐다.

그중에서 경북이 전국에서 가장 많은 29명의 공보의를 파견해 의료공백이 심각한 것으로 확인된다.

공보의 인력이 부족해지면서 지역 의료서비스가 더욱 악화되고 있는 가운데 정부는 오는 9일 235명의 공보의와 군의관을 추가로 파견할 계획을 혔다. 이로 인해 향후 읍면지역 의료공백은 더 커질 전망이다. 

임미애 의원은 “경북 지역 응급의료시스템은 의료대란 이전에도 매우 열악한 상태였다”며 “전국적인 응급의료체계 대란 사태가 장기화하면 경북지역 의료시스템은 버텨내기가 쉽지 않을 것”이라고 우려했다.

그러면서 “개혁이 고통을 수반할 수는 있어도 그 고통이 환자들에게 전가되어서는 절대로 안 된다”고 덧붙여 말했다.
