같은 날 오영준 중구청장 출마예정자도 별도 성명을 통해, 중구 도심에 금융·투자·무역 관련 공공기관을 집적하는 ‘내륙금융 클러스터’ 구축을 제안했다. 

오 출마예정자는 IBK기업은행 외에도 한국투자공사, 한국무역보험공사, 대한무역투자진흥공사 등 유수 금융기관을 함께 유치해 도심 금융 허브를 만들겠다는 의지를 내비쳤다.

두 후보 모두 정부의 공공기관 이전 정책을 근거로 ‘금융 중심지’ 조성을 내세우고 있지만, 정작 IBK기업은행 본점 유치를 두고 수성구와 중구로 의견이 갈리면서, 같은 자원을 두고 내부 경쟁이 벌어지는 모습이다.

이런 상황을 두고 정치권 일각에서는 전략이 분산될 경우 정부와의 협상력 약화로 이어질 수 있다는 우려도 제기된다. 

특히 IBK기업은행 본점 이전을 둘러싼 논의는 단순한 입지 선정 문제를 넘어, 법 개정, 노사 합의, 모(母)소재지의 반발 등 여러 복합적 조건이 맞물려 있어 실현이 쉽지 않다. 이런 상황에서 유치 희망지역까지 분산될 경우, 대구 지역 전체의 협상 포인트가 약해질 수 있다는 분석도 나온다.

일각에서는 이를 정책 경쟁의 초기 단계로 보는 시각도 있다. 각 후보가 제시한 계획들이 추후 당내 조율 과정을 거치며 단일 전략으로 모아질 가능성 역시 남아 있다는 전망이다.
