더불어민주당 대구시당 5일 대구시당 김대중홀에서 신년 단배식을 열고 새해 각오를 다졌으나, 지역 인물난에 대한 고민이 깊어지는 모습이다. 당 안팎에서는 후보군이 더 확대되지 않으면 지방선거에서의 경쟁력 확보가 쉽지 않다는 우려도 제기됐다.

이날 자리에는 허소 대구시당위원장과 홍의락 전 국회의원, 각 지역위원장, 지방의원, 당원 등 100여 명이 참석해 새해 각오와 지방선거 승리를 다짐했다.

허소 시당위원장은 신년사에서 민주당의 역사와 정체성을 강조하며 “대구에서도 민주당의 가치와 비전으로 시민들의 동의를 얻기 위해 힘써 왔다”고 밝혔다. 특히 “최근 국민의힘에 대한 민심 이반이 커지고 있는 만큼, 이번 지방선거에서 경쟁력 있는 대구시장 후보를 내세운다면 승산이 있다”고 자신감을 보였다.

하지만 허 위원장은 “광역의원 지역구 출마자가 아직 많지 않다”며 “지역위원장과 핵심 당원들이 적극적으로 출마자를 발굴해 달라”고 주문했다. 그는 “이번 지방선거에서 후보군 확대가 매우 중요하다”고 강조하면서, 기초의원 선거와 관련해서는 최대한 경선 원칙에 따라 준비하겠다고 덧붙였다.
