【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=경북교육청(교육감 임종식)이 지난해 경북미래교육지구로 선정된 문경시, 청송군, 칠곡군과 업무협약을 체결했다고 밝혔다.

경북교육청은 6일 웅비관에서 미래교육지구 업무협약식을 개최하고 기존 운영되었던 의성군, 상주시, 예천군, 안동시, 경주시 등 5개 지역에 문경시, 청송군, 칠곡군까지 3개 지역을 추가로 확대 운영한다는 소식을 전했다.

경북미래교육지구는 경북교육청과 기초지방자치단체가 협약으로 지정한 지역으로 지난 2020년 처음 실시되었다.

경북교육청은 매년 3~5곳을 추가로 지정해 지속적으로 확대 운영할 방침이며 경북 도내 전체로 사업을 확대해 나갈 예정으로 사업은 교육청과 기초지자체가 각각 연 2억 원을 부담해 4년간 운영된다.

지역교육공동체 구축을 위해 추진된 이 사업은 지역사회와 연계한 마을교육과정 운영, 마을교과서 및 지역화 교재 제작, 지역 특색을 반영한 지역 특화 프로그램을 운영하여 지역의 자긍심을 키우는 역할을 한다.

또한 교육청과 기초지자체가 협력해 지역교육생태계 조성하고 인구 유출을 방지해 지속 가능한 지역사회를 만드는 데 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

임종식 교육감은 “학령인구 감소 현상이 심각한 상황에서 지역과 함께 아이들에 대한 돌봄과 교육에 대한 관심을 높이고, 미래교육지구 확대 운영을 위해 기초지자체와 지속적으로 협력해 나가겠다.”고 말했다.
