대구시교육청과 경북교육청은 지난 27일 '2025 대구교육시티투어'를 공동으로 운영했다고 밝혔다.

'시공간 탐험 – 대구의 과거와 미래를 잇다'라는 주제로 경북대 사범대 부설초등학교 4학년 30명과 경북 지역 초등학교 4학년 30명 등 총 60명이 참여했다.

투어는 지난 2월 문을 연 대구인공지능교육센터에서 시작됐다. 학생들은 피지컬 도구인 '카미봇'을 활용해 자율 주행 등 첨단 기술을 직접 체험하며 미래 사회를 엿봤다. 진로를 탐색하는 계기도 됐다.

이어 조선시대 경상도 행정의 중심지였던 경상감영공원에서 대구의 역사를 배웠다. 근대역사관에서는 일제강점기 생활상과 저항의 흔적을 살폈다. 국채보상운동기념관에서는 대구 시민들의 나라 사랑과 공동체 정신을 되새기며 투어를 마무리했다.

이날 가장 눈에 띈 건 대구 학생들이 '어린이 해설사'로 나섰다는 점이다. 경북 친구들에게 직접 장소의 역사와 의미를 설명했다. 

어린이 해설사로 참여한 한 학생은 "내가 준비한 내용을 친구들에게 알려줄 수 있어서 기뻤다"며 "이번 투어를 통해 대구가 자랑스러운 도시라는 걸 느꼈다"고 소감을 밝혔다.

의성초등학교 4학년 한 학생은 "대구 친구들과 금세 친해질 수 있었고, 책에서만 보던 역사와 문화를 직접 체험하니 훨씬 잘 이해할 수 있었다"며 "앞으로도 이런 기회가 많았으면 좋겠다"고 말했다.

대구·경북 학생들은 3~4명씩 혼합팀을 구성해 과거와 미래를 연결하는 장소들을 돌아봤다. 자기주도적으로 지역의 역사와 문화를 탐구하고 협력 활동을 통해 공동체 의식을 키우는 시간이었다.

강은희 대구시교육감은 "대구와 경북 학생들이 한 팀이 돼 우리 고장의 역사와 미래를 탐험하는 과정에서 지역의 가치를 이해하고 자긍심을 느꼈을 것"이라며 "교육 수도 대구의 대표 프로그램으로 발전시켜 더 많은 학생들이 함께 참여하고 성장할 수 있도록 돕겠다"고 말했다.

임종식 경북교육감은 "경북과 대구 학생들이 함께 배우고 소통하는 이번 프로그램은 지역 교육 협력의 모범 사례"라며 "앞으로도 두 지역이 상생하며 미래 인재를 함께 길러낼 수 있도록 다양한 교육 프로그램을 만들어가겠다"고 밝혔다.

Students from Daegu and Gyeongbuk teamed up to explore the region's history and future.

The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education and the Gyeongbuk Office of Education announced on the 27th that they jointly hosted the "2025 Daegu Education City Tour."

Under the theme "Exploring Time and Space – Connecting Daegu's Past and Future," a total of 60 participants participated, including 30 fourth-year students from Kyungpook National University's College of Education Elementary School and 30 fourth-year students from elementary schools in the Gyeongbuk region.

The tour began at the Daegu Artificial Intelligence Education Center, which opened in February. Using the physical tool "Kamibot," students experienced cutting-edge technologies like autonomous driving, gaining a glimpse into the future. This also provided an opportunity to explore career paths.

Following this, they learned about Daegu's history at Gyeongsang Gamyeong Park, the administrative center of Gyeongsang Province during the Joseon Dynasty. At the Modern History Museum, they explored the lives of those living under Japanese colonial rule and traces of resistance. The tour concluded at the National Debt Redemption Movement Memorial Hall, reflecting on the patriotism and community spirit of Daegu citizens.

The most striking aspect of the day was that Daegu students served as "children's guides." They personally explained the history and significance of the sites to their Gyeongbuk peers.

One student who participated as a children's guide said, "I was happy to be able to share the information I had prepared with my friends. This tour made me realize that Daegu is a city to be proud of."

A fourth-grade student from Uiseong Elementary School said, "I was able to quickly become close with my Daegu peers, and experiencing the history and culture I'd only seen in books firsthand gave me a much better understanding. I hope there will be more opportunities like this in the future."

Students from Daegu and Gyeongbuk formed mixed teams of three to four and toured sites that connect the past and the future. This was an opportunity for them to independently explore the region's history and culture and foster a sense of community through collaborative activities.

Daegu Metropolitan Superintendent of Education Kang Eun-hee said, "Students from Daegu and Gyeongbuk, as a team, explored the history and future of our region, and I believe they gained a deeper understanding of regional values ​​and a sense of pride." She added, "We will develop this program into a signature program for Daegu, the educational capital, so that more students can participate and grow together."

Gyeongbuk Superintendent of Education Lim Jong-sik stated, "This program, where students from Gyeongbuk and Daegu learn and communicate together, is a model example of regional educational cooperation. We will continue to develop diverse educational programs to ensure that both regions can thrive and jointly cultivate future talent."
