【브레이크뉴스 경북】진예솔 기자=경북교육청(교육감 임종식)이 주최하고 경상북도체육회가 주관하는 ‘제62회 경상북도학생체육대회’가 지난 24일 에어로빅과 힙합 경기를 시작으로 본격적인 막을 올렸다. 

이번 대회는 오는 12월 14일까지 약 50일 동안 도내 각 경기장에서 이어진다.

이번 체육대회에는 도내 420개 학교를 대표하는 초·중·고 학생선수 3,483명과 임원 506명이 참가해, 육상·수영·태권도·합기도·축구·야구 소프트볼 등 26개 종목에서 기량을 겨룬다.

대회는 체육 영재를 조기에 발굴하고, 엘리트체육과 생활체육의 동반 성장을 목표로 하고 있다.

특히 오는 28일부터 사흘간 영주시민운동장에서 열리는 육상 경기는 경북의 체육 위상을 확인할 주요 종목으로 주목받고 있다. 

경북은 전국체육대회에서 종목별 4년 연속 우승, 종합 5년 연속 3위에 오르는 등 전국 최고 수준의 실력을 드러내고 있다.

임종식 교육감은 “이번 대회가 경북의 숨은 체육 인재를 발굴하는 좋은 계기가 되길 바란다”며 “체계적이고 과학적인 훈련으로 학생선수들이 미래의 국가대표로 성장할 수 있도록 적극 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.

The 62nd Gyeongsangbuk-do Student Sports Festival, hosted by the Gyeongbuk Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Jong-sik) and organized by the Gyeongsangbuk-do Sports Council, officially kicked off on the 24th with aerobics and hip-hop competitions.

The competition will run for approximately 50 days, ending on December 14th, at various stadiums across the province.

The competition aims to identify talented athletes early on and foster the synergy between elite and recreational sports.

The track and field competition, held at Yeongju Citizens' Stadium for three days starting on the 28th, is attracting attention as a key event that will showcase Gyeongbuk's athletic standing.

Gyeongbuk has demonstrated top-tier performance at the National Sports Festival, winning each event for four consecutive years and placing third overall for five consecutive years.

Superintendent of Education Lim Jong-sik stated, "I hope this competition will serve as a valuable opportunity to discover Gyeongbuk's hidden athletic talent. We will actively support student athletes through systematic and scientific training so they can grow into future national representatives."
