합격자 발표를 앞당겨 특성화고 추가 모집과 연계하고, 학생들의 선택권을 넓히겠다는 취지다.

경북교육청은 “2026학년도 고등학교 입학전형에서 포항 평준화 지역 일반고 합격자 발표일을 오는 1월 5일로 앞당긴다”고 31일 밝혔다. 이는 기존 1월 8일에서 사흘 앞선 날짜다.

이번 일정 조정 배경에 대해 경북교육청은 포항 지역 일반고 지원자 수가 크게 늘어난 점을 들었다. 중학교 3학년 입학 예정 인원 변화와 함께, 전기고 전형 이후 다른 시도에서 경북 지역 고교로 전입한 학생이 1,502명으로, 전년보다 195명(12.98%) 증가했다. 이로 인해 일부 학교에서는 모집 정원을 초과하는 상황도 발생했다.

경북교육청은 “합격자 발표 이후에도 평준화 지역 일반고의 학급별 인원 조정을 통해 추가 선발 및 배정을 실시할 예정”이라며, “불합격 학생들에게도 기회를 제공해 정원 초과로 인한 학생 불이익을 최소화하고 학습권을 보장할 방침”이라고 설명했다.

임종식 경북교육감은 “다른 시도에서 경북교육의 배움터로 유입되는 학생이 꾸준히 늘고 있는 상황을 반영해 이번 결정을 내렸다”면서, “학생들의 학교 생활과 학습권을 보장하고 교육 기회를 확대하기 위한 유연하고 합리적인 고입 전형 대책”이라고 밝혔다.
