【브레이크뉴스 경북】진예솔 기자=경북 농산어촌 학생들이 지역 제약 없이 다양한 과목을 선택할 수 있는 길이 열렸다.

경북교육청은 경북온라인학교 주최로 도내 농산어촌 소규모 고등학교 30교를 대상으로 '2026학년도 교육과정 운영 지원 및 과목 선택권 확대 온라인 설명회'를 개최했다고 15일 밝혔다.

이번 설명회는 농산어촌 학생들에게 동등한 학습 기회를 보장하고 고교학점제에 대비해 학교의 교육과정 운영을 체계적으로 지원하기 위해 마련됐다. 온라인 화상회의로 진행됐다.

설명회에서는 2026학년도 경북온라인학교 개설 예정 과목 안내, 소규모학교 과목 개설 수요 조사, 교육과정 운영 지원 협의 등이 이뤄졌다.

핵심은 온라인 공동교육과정 확대를 통해 학생들이 원하는 과목을 자유롭게 선택할 수 있게 된다는 점이다. 이로써 농산어촌에서도 다양한 진로 맞춤형 학습이 가능해질 전망이다.

경북온라인학교는 올해 3월 1일 정식 개교했다. 경산 남산초 삼성분교장 폐교 시설을 활용해 구축됐으며, 지역 간 교육 격차 해소와 고교학점제 대비를 위한 개방형 교육 체제로 운영된다.

현재 울릉고 등 도서·벽지 학생들도 온라인을 통해 폭넓은 과목을 수강하고 있다. 지리적 한계를 뛰어넘어 도시 학생들과 동일한 교육 기회를 누리게 된 것이다.

임종식 교육감은 "농산어촌 소규모학교의 교육과정 운영은 단순한 지원을 넘어 형평성과 미래 대비라는 교육의 핵심 과제"라며 "경북은 온라인학교와 고교학점제를 유기적으로 연계해 학생 한 명 한 명의 꿈과 진로를 지켜주는 전국 대표 모델을 만들겠다"고 밝혔다.

Superintendent of Education Lim Jong-sik stated, "Curriculum management for small rural schools goes beyond mere support; it is a core educational imperative that emphasizes equity and future-readiness." He added, "Gyeongbuk will organically link online schools with the high school credit system to create a nationally representative model that supports each student's dreams and career path."
