김부겸 국무총리가 10월 26일 경상북도 안동 소재 임청각을방문해 참배하고 관계자들과 환담을 나누었다.
이날 현장에는 독립운동가 석주 이상룡 선생의 후손인 이창수 임청각 종손,강성조 경북도 행정부지사, 권영세 안동시장, 강경환 문화재청 차장, 김호태 임청각 관리자 등이 함께 했다.
임청각은 임시정부 초대 국무령을 지낸 석주 이상룡 선생을비롯해열한 분의 독립운동가를 배출한 고성 이씨 종택이다.
일제는 독립운동의 산실인 임청각의 정기를 끊겠다며 50여 칸의 행랑채와 부속 건물을 철거하고 임청각 마당 한가운데 철길을 냈다.
정부는 임청각을 원래의 모습으로 복원하기 위해 2018년 종합정비계획을수립한 후, 올해 8월에 임청각 앞마당을 가로지르는 철도를철거했고 2025년까지 가옥복원·정비, 기념관 건립 등을 완료할 계획이다.
김부겸 국무총리는 “임청각의 원형 복원이 우리 민족의 자긍심 회복과함께 미래세대에게 명확한 역사인식을 심어줄 수 있는 계기가 될 것으로 기대한다”고 전하며, “신속하고 완전한 복원을 위해 안동시와 문화재청이 최선의 노력을기울여달라”고 당부했다.
