한편 북극항로는 기후변화로 북극해 해빙이 가속화되면서 아시아와 유럽을 잇는 새로운 국제 해상 물류 경로로 부상하고 있다. 최근 홍해 지역의 지정학적 불안으로 수에즈 운하의 안전성이 위협받는 가운데, 기존 항로 대비 운항 거리를 30% 이상 단축할 수 있는 대체 경로로서 전략적 가치가 높아지고 있다. 미국·러시아·중국 등 주요국 역시 북극항로를 국가 전략자산으로 인식하고 인프라 투자를 확대하는 추세다.

Meanwhile, the Northern Sea Route is emerging as a new international maritime logistics route connecting Asia and Europe as climate change accelerates the melting of Arctic ice. With recent geopolitical instability in the Red Sea threatening the safety of the Suez Canal, the strategic value of the route is increasing as an alternative route that can reduce the travel distance by more than 30% compared to existing routes. Major countries such as the United States, Russia, and China also recognize the Northern Sea Route as a national strategic asset and are expanding infrastructure investment.
