교육부(부총리 겸 교육부장관 유은혜)가 ‘제1차 교육회복지원위원회 회의’를 개최하여 교육회복 지원을 위해 머리를 맞댔다.

이날 회의에는 김부겸 국무총리가 참석해 학교·교육청 관계자 격려 및 교육회복에 국가적 참여와 관심을 당부했다.

교육회복지원위원회는 공동위원장인 유은혜 부총리 겸 교육부장관과 최교진 전국시도교육감협의회장을 중심으로 시도교육청 및 기초지자체 대표, 교육·심리‧정서 분야 전문가, 현장 교원, 학부모 등 총 20명으로 구성됐다.

이들은 앞으로 모든 학생의 교육회복과 더 나은 미래교육으로의 도약을 위해 전문가 관점에서 다양한 의견을 제시하는 등 유아, 초‧중등 분야 국가단위 교육회복을 지원할 예정이다.

제1차 회의에서는 교육회복 종합방안의 주요과제별 추진현황과 전국 시도교육청의 추진계획, 특색사례 등을 공유하고, 지방자치단체 협력 등 학교현장의 교육회복 추진에 필요한 사항에 대해 논의했다.

 제1차 회의는 전국 시도교육청의 교육회복 추진 계획과 교육회복 종합방안 주요 과제별 추진현황, 교육회복 관련 논의 등을 골자로 하여 지원 방안과 사례 등에 대한 이야기를 나누었다.

김부겸 국무총리는 “우리 아이들이 코로나19로 입은 상처를 하루빨리 치유하는 것은 국가적인 과제이며, 위원님들께서 주시는 의견은 이 상처를 치유함과 동시에 더 나은 교육으로 도약하기 위한 튼튼한 디딤돌이 될 것”이라고 말하며 “정부는 학습결손과 사회성 저하 등을 최소화하기 위해 이번 2학기에는 방역상황이 다소 어렵더라도 반드시 등교수업을 확대하고 학교 방역 강화에 더욱 최선을 다하겠다.”라고 밝혔다.

 유은혜 부총리 겸 교육부장관은 “길어지는 코로나 속에 지난 1년 반 동안 누적된 우리 아이들의 교육결손을 신속하게 극복하기 위해, 교육부와 교육청이 손을 맞잡았고 최선을 다할 것” 이라면서 “교육회복 조치는 적기에, 총력을 다해 집중 지원해야 하고, 학습결손뿐만 아니라 정서, 사회성 부분까지 종합적으로 지원되어야 하는 정책인 만큼, 교육회복지원위원회와 교육청별 추진단 등을 통해 체계적으로 지원해나가겠다.”라고 밝혔다. 

최교진 전국시도교육감협의회장‧세종특별자치시교육감은 “전국시도교육감협의회에서는 지난 79회 총회에서 모든 학생을 위한 교육회복을 전국 17개 교육청이 공동 추진하기로 결의했다.”라며 “2021년 하반기 추가경정예산 등을 통해 총 5조 981억 원 가량의 예산을 투입하는 등 모든 역량을 집중하겠다.”라고 밝혔다.
