【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=교육부와 한국교육학술정보원(케리스)이 학교 현장에서 저작권 걱정 없이 자유롭게 쓸 수 있는 ‘학교 안심폰트’ 21종을 새롭게 보급한다.
교육부(장관 최교진)와 케리스(원장 정제영)는 28일, 학교에서 자유 사용이 가능한 오픈 서체 21종을 새로 지원한다고 밝혔다.
‘학교 안심폰트’는 누구나 목적과 대상에 상관없이 사용할 수 있는 오픈 폰트다. 2022년부터 해마다 공모를 통해 국내 전문기업이 만든 글꼴 가운데, 학교 현장에서 수요가 높은 서체를 선정해 무료로 배포해왔다. 이번에 새롭게 추가된 21종을 포함하면, 기존 44서체 67종에 더해 총 65서체 88종까지 확장돼 학교 현장에서 더욱 다양한 폰트를 활용할 수 있게 됐다.
이번에 배포되는 글꼴들은 수업 자료와 가정통신문, 학급 소식지, 교내 행사 안내문 등 실무에 두루 쓰일 수 있는 디자인 서체로 구성됐다. 교육 현장의 다양한 교육용 자료 제작에 폭넓게 활용될 전망이다.
저작권도 모두 케리스가 이전받아, 학교와 시·도교육청은 저작권 문제에서 자유롭게 폰트를 사용할 수 있다. 또한 ‘학교 안심 템플릿’으로 제공되는 파워포인트 12종, 포스터 7종 등 자료도 함께 활용할 수 있어, 교내 홍보물이나 수업 자료 제작이 더욱 편리해질 것으로 보인다.
정제영 케리스 원장은 “학교 안심폰트와 템플릿 제공을 통해 교사와 학생 모두가 저작권 부담 없이 창의적이고 효과적인 교육 활동에 집중하기를 바란다”며, “앞으로도 폰트 저작권 분쟁을 예방하고 안전하게 저작물을 이용할 수 있는 환경을 조성하겠다”고 말했다.
