원석학원 산하 주요 4개 노조는 11일 세종시 교육부 청사 앞에서 “무분별한 임시이사 선임으로 대학을 비정상화 시킨 교육부는 상고를 포기하라”며 기자회견을 개최했다.

이들은 “이미 경주대학교는 비리재단이란 낙인, 재정지원제한대학 지정으로 심각한 재정난에 처해 있어 교직원들의 급여가 수개월째 체불되고 있다”면서 “서라벌대학도 조만간 닥칠 재정 위기를 피할 수 없는 상황에 놓여 있다”고 밝혔다.

그러면서 “교육부가 사학비리 엄단과 사학 혁신을 추구하기 위해 상고를 한다면, 양 대학의 구성원은 판결까지 걸리는 최소 3년이 넘는 시간 동안 피눈물을 흘리며 고통 받을 것”이라고 설명했다.

이들은 “교육부는 임시이사체제에서 현금 유동성을 일정 부분 보장해 주는 등의 조처를 한 후 상고하라”면서 “경주대 구성원들의 안전망을 보장해 줄 수 없다면, 사학비리 척결과 사학혁신 추진이란 교육부의 대의를 위해 경주대 구성원의 생존을 볼모로 삼아서는 안 된다”고 말했다.

아울러 노조는 “경주대와 서라벌대학이 통합을 통해 대학의 규모를 적정 수준으로 줄이고, 자산의 매각을 통해 천억 원 이상의 자산을 통합 대학에 투입한다면 지역의 특성화된 강소혁신대학으로 거듭날 수 있을 것”이라며 “양 대학의 정상화를 위해 교육부가 현명한 판단을 내려 주기를 바란다”고 거듭 강조했다.
