경주대학교 교직원 노동조합이 25개월 넘게 지급되지 못한 임금체불 지급을 요구하며 소송에 나섰다.

경주대 교직원 노조는 설립자와 종전이사회(이하, 구재단)를 중심으로 새롭게 구성될 학교법인 원석학원을 상대로 고용노동청과 대한법률구조공단의 소송을 시작했다고 밝혔다.

지난 2017년 교육부 종합감사에서 재정지원제한대학 지정된 이후 학생충원에 어려움을 겪으며 재정 열악과 교육투자 한계를 거듭하고 있는 경주대는 폐교가 거듭될 만큼 벼랑 끝에 몰려있다.

이와 함께 설립자 김일윤 일가의 족벌경영으로 인한 50여 건의 중대한 비리로 학교의 재정적 상황이 더욱 어려움을 겪는 상황 가운데 교육부는 종합감사를 통해 학교법인 원석학원 임원승인을 취소하고 2019년 2월 교육부는 임시이사 파견을 통해 경주대의 비리 문제와 위기 상황에 대처하려했다.

심상욱 경주대학교 직원노동조합 위원장은 임금소송 진행 서류를 접수하면서 “경주대학교 구성원들은 2년여 동안 오직 학교를 살리겠다는 일념 하나로 임금 체불의 고통을 참고 견디며, 대학의 조속한 정상화를 위해 최선을 다해 왔다”면서 “설립자와 구재단이 체불임금 해결의 약속도, 일말의 대책도 제시하지 않기 때문에 부득이하게 소송으로 나갈 수밖에 없었다.”라고 말했다.
