국민의힘 김석기 국회의원(경북 경주)이 “일본 자민당 정부는 내년 대선에서 한국이 정권교체가 되길 바라고 있다”라고 주장해 논란을 빚은 가운데 더불어민주당 경북도당이 이를 비판했다.

민주당 경북도당은 지난 16일 김석기 의원이 국민의힘 원내대책회의에서 “일본 집권 자민당 정부는 한국 정권의 교체를 원한다”고 말한 것을 두고 망언이라고 지적했다.

이들은 또 김기현 의원이 도교올림픽을 계기로 추진되던 한일정상회담이 무산되자 “문재인정권이 일본에 감정적으로 대응해 한일관계를 돌이킬 수 없게 되었다”고 공격한 것에 대해 질타를 이어갔다.

민주당 경북도당은 한일정상회담이 무산된 것에 대해 “김 의원은 주한 일본대사관 소마 공사의 문재인 대통령을 겨냥한 성적발언과 수출규제와 관련한 일본 측의 미온적인 태도에 원인이 있었음에도 사사건건 일본의 입장을 대변했다”면서 “‘일본에 가지 않겠다’는 결정에 대해 전 국민이 찬사를 보내고 있음에도 정치공격을 일삼고 있다.”고 강조했다.

그러면서 “어느 때보다 한일 관계가 민감한 지금 대한민국 국회의원의 발언이라고는 믿기지 않는 국민의힘 김석기 국회의원의 망언은 지역구인 경주시민은 물론 전체 경북도민을 치욕스럽게 만들었다.”며 주장을 이어갔다.

민주당 경북도당은 “일제강점기 조국의 독립을 위해 싸웠던 수많은 경북의 독립지사들의 희생과 애국정신을 안다면 김석기 의원은 더 이상 이 땅에 남아 파렴치한 친일 망언을 내뱉지 말라”며 “차라리 일본 자민당에 입당해 줄 것을 촉구한다.”고 꼬집었다.
