이에 따라 전문대학인 서라벌대가 4년제인 경주대에 통합되며 경주대 캠퍼스에 자리를 잡고 2024학년도부터 학생 모집을 실시한다.

이번 교육부의 승인은 양 대학이 통폐합 신청을 한 이후 4차례의 교육부 대학설립심사 위원회의 심사를 거쳐 1년 만에 결정된 것이다.

이에 따라 통폐합은 급물살을 탈 것으로 전망되지만 3년 가까이 밀린 경주대 교직원 임금 체불 문제 등 풀어야 할 과제가 남아있어 관심이 쏠린다.
