23일 김승수 의원은 대한축구협회가 문체위원들이 요구한 공통자료 총 129건 중 절반 이상을 부실 제출했다고 밝혔다.

협회는 ‘제공하기 어려운 점 양해 부탁드린다' '(계약상) 일방적으로 공개할 수 없다' '개인정보, 비밀유지약정 등으로 인해 제출할 수 없다'는 식의 회피성 답변을 내놓은 것으로 확인된다.

허위사실을 제출한 사례도 있다. 축구협회는 '역대 축구협회 회장 중 국감 증인으로 출석한 사례가 있느냐'는 서면질의에 "2012년 런던올림픽 박종우 선수의 독도 세레모니와 관련해, 당시 조중연 회장이 국감 증인으로 채택되어 참석한 바 있다"고 답변서를 보냈다. 하지만 실제 역대 축구협회 회장이 국감 증인으로 출석한 사례는 없다. 

김승수 의원은 "홍명보 축구 국가대표팀 감독 선임 과정에서의 절차적 하자와 불공정 논란, 축구협회의 소극적인 대처로 인해 대국민적 공분을 사고 있다"며 “대한민국 축구가 위기인데도 연휴 이후 창립기념일, 징검다리 평일 휴가까지 적극적으로 챙기는 태도를 보면서 더 이상 축구협회의 발전을 기대하기 어렵다"고 질타했다.

Rep. Kim Seung-soo criticized, "The procedural flaws and unfairness in the process of appointing Hong Myung-bo as head coach of the national soccer team, as well as the passive response of the Korea Football Association, have drawn public outrage." He added, "It is difficult to expect any further development from the Korea Football Association when we see them actively celebrating Foundation Day and even a weekday off after the holiday, even though Korean soccer is in crisis."
