23일 김승수 의원은 입장문을 통해 “대구 북구 강북·칠곡 지역의 발전을 도외시하고 주민들의 염원을 무시하는 일방적인 매각 결정에 강력하게 반대 의견을 표한다”고 밝혔다.

그는 “대구시는 지난 2022년 한 차례 칠곡행정타운 부지를 매각지로 선정했다가 지역 사회의 강한 반대의견으로 이를 철회한 바 있다”고 언급했다.

그러면서 “대구시의 오락가락 불통 행정은 지역 사회에 큰 혼란을 부추기고 있으며, 대구시정에 대한 불신과 실망을 낳고 있다”고 꼬집었다.

김승수 의원은 “칠곡행정타운 부지는 타 지역에 비해 국·공립 문화기반 시설이 취약한 대구 강북지역의 대표적인 개발예정지였다”고 강조했다.

또한 “군위군 대구 편입과 인근에 통합신공항 건설로 향후 폭증할 공공시설 및 문화시설 수요에 대응할 수 있는 유일한 대안”이라며 “더욱이 해당 부지는 대구 강북 최고의 요충지로 향후 가치는 더욱 높아질 전망이며 매각 시 두 번 다시 매입이 불가능한 최적의 행정용지”라고 주장했다.

그는 “부지 매각으로 민간 주도 개발이 이뤄질 경우 주변 상권에 막대한 악영향을 미칠 수 있다”며 우려를 표했다.

그러면서 “대구시는 칠곡행정타운 부지의 매각을 즉각 취소하고 공공 또는 국가시설을 설립해 지역주민들이 느끼는 소외감을 해소해야한다”고 촉구했다.

아울러 “대구 북구 주민을 위해 활용되어야 할 칠곡행정 타운 부지를 타 지역에 설립될 대구 신청사 건립 비용으로 쓰는 것은 주민들을 무시하는 처사”라며 “대구시는 하루 속히 지역주민을 위한 부지 활용 방안을 마련해 제시할 것을 강력히 촉구한다”고 덧붙였다.
