이 협약을 통해 경찰청은 방문근로자 등에 대한 범죄피해와 교통사고 예방, 그리고 신고방법 등을 교육하게 되고, 도시가스 공급회사들은 가정폭력, 아동학대, 청소년비행 등 안전위험요인 발견 시 경찰에 신고하고, 지역주민들을 대상으로 치안정책과 범죄예방요령 등을 홍보할 계획이다.

업무협약식에서 경북경찰청과 경북공급 도시가스 6개사는안전한 지역사회 구축과 공동체치안 활성화에 뜻을 모으고, 주택가 주변에 지리감이 밝은 도시가스 점검원을 안전지킴이 요원화하여, 안전위험요인 발견 시 경찰에 즉시 신고하는 등공동체 예방치안을 위해 함께 노력하기로 했다.
