어둠이 막 내리기 시작할 무렵인 저녁 7시 30분, 다른 도시와 달리 도심의 밤 풍경은 조금은 어둑했다. 의성의 대표적인 도심지라고 하지만 대구 도심과의 저녁 풍광은 많이 달랐다.

전통시장 입구 앞에는 선거운동용 차량이 즐비하게 늘어서 있다. 특이한 현상은 무소속 군수 후보의 집중유세를 취재하기 왔건만, 현장에는 무소속 후보의 차량을 중간두고 양 옆으로 국민의힘과 무소속 기초 광역의원 후보들의 차량이 한데 어우러져 세워져 있었다. 

더욱 희한한 광경은 이들 무소속과 국민의힘 후보들이 너나 할 것 없이 함께 선거운동을 하고 있었고, 국민의힘 기초, 광역의원 후보들이 무소속 김주수 군수 후보를 지지하고 있었다.
