송경창 신임 원장은 경북대학교 사대부고와 한양대학교 법학과를 졸업한 이후 동 대학교 경영대학원에서 지역경제학 석사학위를 받고 1992년 행정고등고시(36회)를 통해 공직에 입문했다.

경북도에서 문화체육관광국장, 창조경제산업실장, 환동해지역본부장을 비롯해 경산시부시장, 포항시부시장 등을 역임했다.

경북도에서 ‘4차 산업혁명위원회’를 조직해 4차 산업혁명 기술과 에너지분야 정책을 이끌었으며 포스텍 인공지능(AI)거점센터를 구축하고 삼성스마트팩토리를 보급하는 등 과학기술에 기반 한 지역 경제활성화 정책을 기획 추진했다.

송경창 신임 원장은 “ 글로벌 강소기업과 기업가형 소상공인 육성하고 첨단산업을 중심으로 하는 양질의 일자리를 창출하겠다”며“아울러, 효율성과 전문성을 중심으로 하는 공공조직 혁신 등을 통해 경북의 인재⋅기업⋅산업의 혁신을 지원하는 혁신경제 플랫폼을 구축해 지역경제성장 동력을 확보할 수 있도록 하겠다”고 밝혔다.
