송 예비후보는 일각에서 돌고 있는 국민의힘 후보 캠프로 옮기는 것 아니냐는 설에 대해서는 “윤두현 의원의 부정 공천을 두 눈으로 목격한 사람이다. 단수공천에 대해 꾸준히 이의를 제기해왔다. 아무리 정치적인 경력이 미천하다 할지라도 이런 공천은 세상에 없다. 그것을 현장에서 목격한 사람이다. 그런 불의에 제가 어떻게 발을 들여놓겠나. 어림도 없는 이야기이며 그런 불의와 계속 싸울 것이고 그러기 위해 정치력을 더 키워 나갈 것"이라고 강조했다.
그러면서 그는 “정치신인으로서 과분한 사랑을 받았다. 아쉬운 심정을 뒤로하고 경산발전을 위해 앞으로도 노력하겠다. 이번 선거가 오직 시민을 위한 시민의 선거가 됐으면 좋겠다”라고 덧붙였다.
경산 부시장과 포항부시장을 지낸 송경창 경산시장 예비후보는 지난 10월, 인재 영입으로 국민의힘에 발탁되고 경산에서 정치 활동을 이어왔다. 3월 경산시장 예비후보로 등록했지만 단수공천으로 경선의 기회를 갖지 못했다.
