이를 위한 구체적 시나리오도 등장한다. 일단 13명의 국민의힘 공천신청자 가운데 1차로 5명을 압축한 뒤, 이 들 중에서 한 사람을 공천하는 내용이 골자다. 이 지역 정가 관계자의 말을 빌어 이 소문의 진위를 더 들여다보면 13명 가운데 1차로 5명까지 압축하는 과정은 사실인 듯하다. 그러나, 정가 관계자는 5명 가운데 1,2위를 제외한 나머지 3명을 여론조사 3,4,5등이 아닌 6,7,8위 후보자를 1,2위 후보자와 붙인 뒤 이 가운데서 한 명을 공천할 것이란 것.

이같은 우려를 전한 이 관계자는 “1,2위 후보자 중 특정 후보에 공천하겠다는 것보다 더 우려스럽게 생각하는 것은 후순위 후보자 선정이다. 5명의 후보를 1차 압축한다면 누가 봐도 당연히 1,2,3,4,5위 후보를 선정하는 것이 정상이다. 그럼에도 3,4,5위는 제끼고 6,7,8위 후보를 경선에 포함시킨다는 것은 공천 심사에 불순한 의도가 포함됐다고 밖에 해석할 수 없다”며 “이는 당선 가능성보다는 친분에 의한 공천, 그 후보를 위해 6,7,8위 후보들을 들러리 세우겠다는 의도가 분명하다”고 의문을 제기했다.

이에 대하여 윤두현 의원측 관계자는 “상당히 왜곡된 소문”이라며 “여론조사상의 수치는 단순히 참고용이라고 봐야 하지 않나. 잘은 몰라도 의원님은 모든 후보에게 경산의 청사진과 어떻게 지역에서 화합을 할 것인가 등의 계획을 요구한 것으로 알고 있다. 이 밖에도 당원기여도나 책임당원 확보 등을 종합적으로 평가해 5명을 압축하겠다는 빙침으로 알고 있다”고 설명했다. 지역 정가에 떠도는 소문과는 결이 많이 다르다. 

윤두현 의원의 공천 관련 의문은 이뿐만이 아니다. 윤 의원은 21일 저녁 모 인터넷신문 기자와의 통화에서 “모 후보를 추천했다”고 발언한 것으로 알려졌다. 굉장히 예민한 사안인 만큼, 기자들이 추가 확인을 위한 질문을 하자 윤 의원은 “그 소문은 상당히 와전된 것”이라며 부인했다. 언론사별로 다른 발언을 한 것이다. 

이같이 오락가락하는 모습을 보이자 경산지역 정가에서는 윤 의원을 비토하는 목소리가 높아지고 있다. 더욱이 하루도 지나지 않아 경선 방식에 있어 납득할 수 없는 소문이 일자, 정가는 사실 확인을 위해 동분서주하는 모습들이 포착되고 있다. 사실확인을 위해서라도 윤 의원 이 직접 본인의 정확한 의중을 경산시민들에게 알려야 한다는 지적이다.
