(불출마 선언) 전날까지만 해도 윤 의원은 당원들에게 경선 준비를 요청했던 것으로 알려진다. 그러나, 갑작스레 당협위원장의 불출마 선언이 있자, 그를 지지하고 돕기로 했던 당원들의 허탈감이 극도에 달해 있는 것으로 확인됐다. 

24일 본지와 만난 경산지역 국민의힘 당원 A씨는 “당장 총선을 치러내야 하지만, 엊그제까지 윤 의원을 돕겠다고 한 사람들이 갑작스레 조지연 후보 캠프를 왕래하기가 쉽지 않다. 마음 둘 곳이 없어졌다“고 입을 연 그는 ”아무리 같은 당 후보라 하더라도 현역 국회의원 조직과 후보 조직은 그만큼의 보이지 않는 장벽이 있다“는 하소연으로 짤막하게 현 상황을 설명했다. 

A씨는 “당과 조직을 위하는 것이 당원의 역할이긴 하지만, 당내 선거(경선)는 당원들끼리도 참 많은 생각을 하게 한다. 지금 상황으로는 그 어떤 말로도 흐트러진 당원들의 마음을 달래 주거나 진정시키기는 당분간 쉽지 않을 것”이라면서 “경산은 다른 지역 당협과는 조금은 다른 특수한 상황이다. 총선이 코 앞이지만, 사실상 와해나 다름없는 당협으로 총선을 치르기는 어려워 보인다. 이건 나만의 생각은 아니다”라고 덧붙였다. 

국민의힘 경산 선거 포기 VS 전략 

윤두현 의원의 불출마 선언으로 관심은 조지연 예비후보에 쏠리는 모양새지만, 실제 현장에서는 조 예비후보의 지지율로 최경환 전 의원에 승리하기가 쉽지 않다는 전망이 나오면서 4.10 총선을 이대로 포기해야 하는 것 아니냐는 소문이 조심스레 돌고 있다.

여기에 윤 의원이 불출마를 선언하며 주장한 “부패 세력의 회귀는 안된다”는 발언이 이번 총선에서 국민의힘을 더욱 어렵게 만들 것이란 분석도 나오고 있다. 

이 지역 정가는 “윤두현 의원의 발언은 윤석열 대통령이 두 번이나 박근혜 전 대통령을 만나며 보수 결집을 만들어 낸 상황을 완전히 뒤집는 주장”이라며 “윤 의원의 말대로라면 이번 총선에서 유영하를 통해 사실상 정치 재개를 시작한 박 전 대통령 역시 이 범주 안에 포함되어야 하는데, 그건 윤 대통령의 생각과는 다를 것”이라는 것. 

따라서 정가는 윤 의원의 주장이 경산지역 국민의힘 총선 구도에 악영향을 미치며, 최경환 예비후보에 힘을 더 실어주는 결과를 가져올 것으로 분석했다.
