【브레이크뉴스 경산】이성현 기자=경북 경산의 한 대학교에서 전파력이 매우 강한 홍역 환자가 무더기로 쏟아져 인접한 지역 사회에 비상이 걸렸다.

첫 확진자는 지난 3월 20일 인천공항을 통해 입국한 우즈베키스탄 국적의 유학생으로 입국 직후부터 발열 등 증상이 있었고 4월 들어 발진이 나타났는데, 지난 6일 홍역 확진 판정을 받았다.

이후 같은 기숙사에 생활하던 다른 유학생들도 잇따라 확진되면서 지난 18일 11명이던 확진자가 19일 16명, 20일 22명으로 늘어났다. 21일 이후 추가 확진자는 나오지 않았지만, 보건 당국은 예의주시하고 있다.

보건 당국에 따르면 제2급 법정 감염병인 홍역은 2~3주 잠복기를 거친 뒤 기침이나 콧물 같은 증세가 나타나고 이후 고열과 함께 온몸에 붉은 발진이 일어난다.

치사율은 낮지만 홍역 바이러스에 대한 면역이 약한 상태에서 확진자와 접촉하면 90% 이상 감염될 만큼 전염성이 강하다.

보건 당국은 확진자를 별도 공간에 격리해 치료하는 한편, 확진자와 접촉한 사람도 기숙사에 코호트 격리하고 건강 상태를 관찰하고 있다. 해당 학교의 외국인 학생 전원에게는 홍역 예방 접종을 실시하고 있다.

아울러 해당 학교와 경산보건소에 임시 선별진료소를 설치하고 의심 증상이 있는 누구나 홍역 진단 검사를 받도록 해 지역사회 확산 차단에 집중하고 있다.
