‘짓밟힌 시민의 자존심’이라는 캐치프레이즈와 이를 찢는 퍼포먼스를 통해 지역 국회의원의 공천 파행을 강도 높게 비난했다. 

오세혁 후보는 출정 연설을 통해 ‘시민의 기대를 저버리고 함량 미달 시장 후보를 단수 추천한 국회의원을 심판해야 한다’고 말하고 ‘이는 빨간색만 보고 찍어 주던 우리 시민들의 신뢰를 이용한 것’ 이라며 ‘이젠 당이 아니라 인물’을 선택해야 한다고 강조했다. 

한때 경쟁자였던 시민협의체 정재학 위원은 지지연설에 나서  “지역정치권을 파탄으로 치닫게 한 지역 국회의원을 심판케 하여야 하고 그 방법은 이번 선거에서 무소속 후보가 당선되는 것“이라고 역설했다. 황상조 위원도 지역의 진정한 주인은 시민이라며 시민의 손으로 오만한 국회의원을 심판해야 한다며 꼭 오세혁 후보의 지지를 부탁한다고 청중들의 지지를 이끌어 냈다. 

이날 출정식은 시민운동을 알리는 자리임을 연상케 했다. 이보다 앞서 오전에 있었던 국민의힘 출정식이 다소 차분한 가운데 치러진 행사였다면 무소속 후보 출정식은 축제장을 방불케했다. 

이들 무소속 후보들과 시민협의체 식구들은 저마다 ‘윤두현 OUT' '윤두현은 사퇴하라’ 등의 피켓을 들고 오 후보의 연설 중간 중간 함성과 호응으로 승리를 기원했다. 시민협의체 관계자는 별도의 인터뷰에서 “우리의 목적은 윤두현 의원의 OUT”이라는 점을 강조하며 “2년 후 총선시까지 조직을 더욱 확대시켜 반드시 이 도시의 주인인 시민에게 권리를 돌려 드리겠다”고 말했다. 

이날 출정식에는 경산 시민 약 1천여명이 임당역 인근 광장에 모여 무소속 후보들의 선전을 기원했다. 이들은 후보와 시민협의체 위원들의 지원 유세시마다 큰 소리로 ‘오세혁’을 외치는 등 식이 끝날 때까지 자리를 지켰다. 

공천 파행을 강조하기 위한 퍼포먼스 중 지지자들이 풍선을 표적을 향해 던지고 있다.

지역정가는 “국민의힘이 조직과 힘을 통해 서서히 지지세를 확장해 나가려고 할 것 ”이라며 “ 무소속을 지탱하는 특정 인사의 잘 짜여진 조직도 만만치 않을 것”이라고 진단했다. 그러면서 “시민들이 이번 선거에 대한 관심은 윤두현 의원에 대한 反윤 정서가 어느 쪽으로 흐를지가 될 것”이라며 “선거 결과에 따라 윤두현 의원의 2년 후 입지가 결정될 가능성이 높다”고 평가했다.
