새마을재단 이승종 대표는 지난 22일 본 사업의 현지화 정착 및 거버넌스 강화를 위해 인도네시아와 나이지리아를 방문했다.

인도네시아 족자카르타 블레베란 마을에서는 버섯재배 사업으로 마을 주민 소득증대가 이뤄지고 있다. 또, 새마을세계화사업에 영향을 받은 주 정부는 자체적으로 글로벌 고똥로용(상부상조) 10개 사업을 진행하고 있다.

현지화 정착에 효과를 거둔 새마을재단은 이날 인도네시아 족자카르타주 하멩꾸부워노 10세 족자카르타 주지사로부터 감사패를 받았다. 또, 새마을재단 인도네시아사무소장은 족자카르타주 농촌지역 발전 기여를 인정받아 표창장을 받았다.

간담회에서 이승종 새마을재단 대표는 “새마을운동은 마을 이장과 주민들의 주체적인 활동이 중요하다”면서 “동시에 공무원들의 적극적인 관심과 지원 역시 중요하다. 족자카르타주에서 진행 중인 새마을세계화사업과 글로벌 고똥로용 사업이 잘 진행될 수 있도록 주 정부 차원의 각별한 관심이 더욱 필요하다”고 당부했다. 

이 대표는 인도네시아에 이어 24일에는 나이지리아 카치나주를 방문했다. 이 대표는 아미누 벨로 마사리 카치나주지사와 벼 혁신 협동조합농장(새마을 협동조합농장) 기반조성사업 준공식에 참석해 새마을운동에 대한 관심에 감사와 격려를 보내면서 “다양한 방법으로 새마을세계화사업을 확대해 나갈 수 있도록 노력하겠다.”고 약속했다.
