【브레이크뉴스 구미】이성현 기자=새마을재단(대표이사 이승종, 이하 재단)은 김천시에서 지원하는 새마을시범마을 조성사업 수행을 위해 사전 선정한 4개 후보마을 중 1개 우수마을을 선정해 향후 4년간 새마을시범마을로 지원한다고 밝혔다.

이를 위해 지난 15일부터 18일까지 조성희 상임이사를 단장으로 인도네시아 서부 자바 지역 수방시(Subang) 일대에서 신규 새마을시범마을 선정조사단을 파견했다.

현장 조사단은 지난 1년간 주민숙원사업과 공통 과제 사업을 추진해 온 후보마을들을 직접 방문해 사업 결과와 성과를 종합적으로 판단해 최종 시범마을을 선정한다.

조성희 상임이사는 “새마을운동의 핵심은 스스로 노력하고 잘 살기 위해 최선을 다하는 공동체를 더 지원해 자조마을로 거듭나도록 하는 데 있다.”라며 “이번 조사를 통해 협동심이 강하고 자립 의지가 높은 마을을 선정해 김천시와 함께 성공적인 시범마을 조성에 힘쓰겠다.”라고 밝혔다.

한편 김천시는 지난 2016년부터 재단을 통해 자매결연도시인 인도네시아 수방시 일대에 새마을운동 보급에 힘써왔다. 특히 시가 지원한 사업 중 쓰레기중간처리장 설립과 쓰레기 은행 사업은 수방시 전역으로 확대되어 지역 내 생활환경개선에 큰 영향을 끼쳤다.

또한 주민 소득증대 사업인 양어장 설치 지원 및 양어사료협동공장 운영 결과 민간기업과의 연계를 통한 지속가능한 사업으로 자리 잡아 주민들의 자립 역량 강화로 이어졌다는 평가를 받고 있다.

In particular, among the projects supported by the city, the establishment of an intermediate waste treatment plant and the garbage bank project were expanded throughout Subang City and had a great impact on improving the living environment in the region.

In addition, as a result of the support for the installation of fish farms and the operation of a fish feed cooperative factory, which are projects to increase residents' income, it is evaluated as a sustainable business through linkage with private companies, leading to the strengthening of residents' self-reliance capabilities.
