황 후보는 “21년 전 불의의 사고로 우리 곁을 떠나신 192분 영령의 명복을 빈다”며 “안전한 사회를 만드는 것은 정치가 이루어야 할 최우선 과제임을 명심하겠다.”고 밝히며 희생자들에게 헌화하고 명복을 빌었다. 

지난 1월 29일 개혁신당 후보 중 첫 번째로 예비후보 등록을 마친 황 후보는 매일 아침 인사와 저녁 인사를 하며 지역유권자들에게 지지를 호소하고 있다. 그는 “빚을 상속하시겠습니까? 희망을 상속하시겠습니까?”라는 선거 구호로 젊은 유권자층과 40-50대 유권자층을 겨냥해 호소하고 있다.
