【브레이크뉴스 경산】이성현 기자=(재)경북테크노파크(원장 하인성)는 11월 4일부터 6일까지 싱가포르에서 열린 ‘2025 싱가포르 농식품주간(SIAW 2025)’의 Agri-Food Tech Expo Asia(이하 AFTEA) 내 ‘CELL AG PAVILION’에 참가해 경상북도 세포배양식품 규제자유특구를 성공적으로 홍보했다고 5일 밝혔다.

이번 부스 운영은 경상북도의 세포배양식품 규제자유특구 제도적 우수성과 경북테크노파크의 기술 실증 및 산업 지원 역량을 세계 각국의 관계자들에게 알리고, 세포배양식품 생태계 조성과 혁신기술 상용화 모델을 국제적으로 확산하기 위해 마련됐다.

‘SIAW(Singapore International Agri-Food Week)’는 아시아 최대 규모의 농식품 전문 전시 행사로, 2024년 기준 70개국 이상이 참여했다. 올해는 캐나다·네덜란드·스페인 등 주요 국가관과 산업 파빌리온이 참여해 글로벌 혁신기술 교류의 장이 됐다.

특히 APAC-SCA(아시아태평양 세포농업학회)와 AFTEA가 공동 운영한 ‘Cell Ag Pavilion’은 배양육, 배양 해산물, 발효 기반 식품 등 세포농업 전반을 다루며 기술, 투자, 규제 등 핵심 이슈를 논의하는 세포기반 식품산업의 중심 무대로 주목받았다.

경북테크노파크는 행사 현장에서 ▲규제자유특구의 제도적 강점(기술 실증 및 규제 샌드박스) ▲지역 거점기관으로서의 기업 지원 프로그램 ▲세포배양식품 기술의 산업·사회적 잠재력 등을 집중 홍보했다.

또한 특구 참여기업인 ㈜티센바이오팜, ㈜씨위드, ㈜다나그린이 함께 참여해 각사의 세포배양식품 기술과 제품을 선보였으며, 기술 데모, 브로슈어 배포, 해외 바이어 및 연구기관과의 비즈니스 미팅 등을 통해 실질적인 해외 협력 가능성을 적극 타진했다.

경북테크노파크 첨단메디컬융합섬유센터는 지난해 APAC-SCA와 체결한 업무협약(MOU)을 바탕으로, 아시아 지역 내 공동 연구, 기술 실증, 파일럿 프로젝트 추진, 규제·안전성 정보 공유 플랫폼 구축 등 국제 공동협력 방안을 구체적으로 논의했다.

향후 경북테크노파크는 이번 협력을 계기로 ▲특구 참여기업의 글로벌 R&D 네트워크 확대 ▲시험·인증 연계 강화 ▲해외 실증사업 발굴 등 글로벌 진출을 위한 전방위적 지원체계를 강화할 계획이다.

하인성 경북테크노파크 원장은 “경북 세포배양식품 규제자유특구 지정 이후, 한국의 세포배양식품 산업이 글로벌 무대에서 뜨거운 주목을 받고 있음을 실감했다”며 “경상북도가 국내를 넘어 세계 시장을 선도하는 세포배양식품 산업 허브로 도약할 수 있도록 모든 역량을 집중하겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편 경북테크노파크는 경상북도·의성군과 함께 지난해 4월 중소벤처기업부로부터 ‘제9차 경북 세포배양식품 규제자유특구’로 지정받았으며, 이를 기반으로 실증 연구, 원천기술 고도화, 규제특례 적용 등을 통해 세포배양식품 산업의 주도권 확보에 박차를 가하고 있다.

Gyeongbuk Technopark Promotes 'Cell-Cultured Food Regulatory-Free Zone' Globally at Singapore Agri-Food Week

Gyeongbuk Technopark (President Ha In-seong) announced on November 5th that it successfully promoted the Gyeongsangbuk-do Cell-Cultured Food Regulatory-Free Zone at the 'CELL AG PAVILION' within the Agri-Food Tech Expo Asia (AFTEA) of the '2025 Singapore Agri-Food Week (SIAW 2025)' held in Singapore from November 4th to 6th.

This booth was designed to showcase Gyeongsangbuk-do's institutional excellence in the Cell-Cultured Food Regulatory-Free Zone and Gyeongbuk Technopark's technological demonstration and industry support capabilities to stakeholders from around the world. It also aims to foster a cell-cultured food ecosystem and promote innovative technology commercialization models internationally.

SIAW (Singapore International Agri-Food Week) is Asia's largest agricultural and food exhibition, with participation from over 70 countries as of 2024. This year, major national pavilions and industry pavilions from countries like Canada, the Netherlands, and Spain participated, creating a platform for global innovation and technology exchange.

In particular, the "Cell Ag Pavilion," jointly operated by the APAC-SCA (Asia Pacific Society for Cellular Agriculture) and the AFTEA, garnered attention as a central platform for the cell-based food industry, covering the entire spectrum of cellular agriculture, including cultured meat, cultured seafood, and fermented foods. It also discussed key issues such as technology, investment, and regulation.

Gyeongbuk Technopark focused on promoting the Regulatory Free Zone's institutional strengths (technology demonstration and regulatory sandbox), its corporate support programs as a regional hub, and the industrial and social potential of cell-cultured food technology.

Furthermore, participating companies in the zone, including Thyssen Biopharm, Seaweed, and Danagrin, participated and showcased their cell-cultured food technologies and products. They actively explored potential overseas collaborations through technology demonstrations, brochure distribution, and business meetings with overseas buyers and research institutions.

Based on the MOU signed with the APAC-SCA last year, the Gyeongbuk Technopark Advanced Medical Convergence Textile Center discussed specific international collaboration plans, including joint research, technology verification, pilot projects within the Asian region, and the establishment of a regulatory and safety information sharing platform.

Gyeongbuk Technopark plans to leverage this collaboration to strengthen its comprehensive support system for global expansion, including expanding the global R&D network of participating companies, strengthening testing and certification links, and identifying overseas demonstration projects.

Ha In-seong, President of Gyeongbuk Technopark, stated, "Since the designation of Gyeongbuk as a regulation-free special zone for cell-cultured foods, I have realized that Korea's cell-cultured food industry is receiving significant attention on the global stage. We will dedicate all our capabilities to helping Gyeongsangbuk-do become a leading cell-cultured food industry hub, transcending the domestic market and becoming a global market leader."

Meanwhile, Gyeongbuk Technopark, along with Gyeongsangbuk-do and Uiseong-gun, was designated as the "9th Gyeongbuk Cell Culture Food Regulatory Free Zone" by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups in April of last year, and is accelerating efforts to secure leadership in the cell culture food industry through demonstration research, advancement of original technologies, and application of regulatory exemptions based on this.
